Advocacy: Haiti & The Dominican Republic

Key Partners

Haiti Advocacy Working Group (CWS co-chairs), Christian Aid

Haiti-focused CWS advocacy, in the most impoverished nation in the Americas, has focused on food security and its relationship to climate change, on housing, elections, cholera, and on reports mandated under the U.S. Assessing Progress in Haiti Act. Special attention has been given to statelessness and the deportation crisis in the Dominican Republic, where legal decrees have stripped Dominicans of Haitian descent of their nationality. CWS advocacy efforts address the U.S. State Department, Congress, the White House, the Organization of American States and Caribbean Community, known as CARICOM.
